Fast Forward is a series of four courses for adult students of English attending intensive courses of 60-80 teaching hours. The courses are independent of each other, but are linked by syllabus, approach, and progression – from elementary to advanced level. Each course consists of two student’s books which run in parallel: the Classbook, which develops communicative skills within the classroom, and the self-study Student’s Resource Book, which allows students to pursue their studies, particularly of grammar, in their own time and at their own pace. Throughout Fast Forward the material is sophisticated enough to appeal to the adult mind, even when the language level is quite basic.
Fast Forward 1 is at elementary level. This Classbook contains 20 units, of which every 5th is a «rest and revision» unit. The grammatical and functional syllabus is presented through short dialogues and texts, and there are many communicative activities, games, role-plays, and projects which develop speaking and listening skills. The accompanying Student’s Resource Book provides self-access summaries of the grammar and communicative functions of each unit; grammar and writing exercises; and reading and listening passages. A Teacher’s Book and Class Cassettes also accompany this Classbook.
